Miles Jones
It’s a familiar story in business at large, that the most outstanding opportunities are often those we create ourselves. Artistically minded entrepreneurs who are able to balance business and art advantageously however, aren’t exactly of a common breed. But such savvy individuals do exist and tend to stand out from the rest, like Toronto artist, songwriter and multimedia producer Miles Jones.
A whirlwind of endeavors and successes have followed Jones since he founded his own record label Mojo Records & Publishing in 2004. Shortly after releasing his debut album One Chance in 2006 which was his McMaster graduating thesis project, he began to work on his sophomore album Runaway Jones (2009 Canada) (2011 USA) which proved immensely agreeable: Runaway Jones charted #3 on iTunes Canada, and the “Coast to Coast” was picked up by CBS for Las Vegas CSI and by CTV for the 2010 Olympics broadcast. Other accolades for Runaway Jones include a 2009 Independent Music Award for “Song of The Year” and a prize for the 2010 Billboard Song Contest.
Jones’ infectious charisma has probably been shaped by a thing or two he has picked up from his Dad “Deadly” Hedley Jones Jr., an influential Disc Jockey and Producer beginning at the CBC and into the earlyTorontoclub scene days. He shares a unique chemistry between long-time collaborator and partner DJ Serious and it is Jones’ hard work and perseverance toward broadening his career and craft makes him a well-rounded Toronto artist and Multimedia producer.
Alongside Dave Yan and Aaron Alleyne, Miles is the third contributing affiliate to the creative group AMDcollective, which has produced Jones’ unique visuals (photo and video) including the perception warming video for “Trust Me” (Much Music, Aux TV), and the back-alley-rap video for “Never Wrong (Remix)” (MuchVibe, MTVbase, Aux Tv, Rap City) that accompanied his breakthrough into the U.S. marketplace in 2011.
Miles’ multi-talents are invaluable not only because he is emerging on the cusp of the DIY-internet driven market, but more importantly, because they allow him to offer artistic input with broad background and lust for knowledge across the spectrum of multimedia.
